Who are we?

Founded in 2016 by two Pittsburghers at the Service Design Network Global Conference in Amsterdam. Our founding mission was to connect service design enthusiasts and practitioners locally and globally.

What drives us?

We are a group of learners looking to grow our service design competencies and use those skills to effect meaningful change.

Community is at the heart of our organization, whether members are located in the Steel City or thousands of miles away. We host, gather, and meet in-person and online for workshops, talks, and other events, both large and small.

We are especially interested in projects and speakers that are oriented toward leveraging the service design mindset for social impact. We believe this is not only an ethical application of our skills, but also contributes to the growth and maturation of the design discipline.

 What do we believe?

Community and change are two of our driving principles that go hand-in-hand. We seek to build a strong network built on mutual respect and empathy. We pledge to affirm the identities and experiences of those around us and strive for inclusivity at every level. We endeavor to shift the way we think and work, and apply that ethos to the projects we work on. We hope that these small ripples of change may contribute to the sweeping turn of the tide.
